Constitution Party reflects Christian Right

Mike Kole is chagrined. He believes that bloggers are picking on the Libertarian Party. I disagree. Folks are merely describing the muddled mess the libertarians are. But, for now, let's give'em a break. It is time to revisit the Constitution Party. I last recall mentioning it in regard to a potential presidential candidacy by the runaway judge of Alabama, Roy Moore. He became very popular with the Christian Right when he placed a large granite sculpture depicting the Ten Commandments in the state's judicial building. After the monument was removed because it violated the Establishment Clause of the Constitution, and he lost his judgeship, Moore was seen as a martyr by his fellow travelers. Many of them wanted him to run for president of the United States. Moore chose not to seek the nomination to lead the Constitution Party's ticket.

The nominee isMichael Peroutka of Maryland. The man is like another Mike, Badnarik, presidential standard bearer for the Libertarians, only more far out. He has made this promise.

"On my first day in office, I will obey my Oath and abolish the Federal income tax, end 'legal' abortion, get the U.S. out of the U.N., withdraw from NAFTA, GATT, WTO, IMF, and the World Bank, begin the process of deporting illegal aliens and protecting the borders, refuse to enforce Federal gun control laws that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms, restore the Ten Commandments in the courts, refuse to recognize homosexual marriages, abolish the Department of Education, and end all Federal funding of education."

"The Constitution Party...consists of the remnants of George Wallace's American Independent Party, members of the Christian Right, disaffected Republicans and/or members of the Southern heritage movement."

Hmm... I'm a CP'er, yet I'm not a member of any of the mentioned groups - and neither are most of my CP friends... What does this tell you about the author's claims?

I sure hope the Constitution Party keeps on going strong and grows during the next election. If it becomes successful enough we might be able to dump all the reprehensible Theocons out of the GOP and send them to the CP where they belong.

That said, I do agree that there's no likely connection between the AIP and the CP. The AIP is the descendant of the Know Nothing Party, and its agenda is mainly isolationism, not christian values.

uhhh... I don't want theocons to join the CP...

Why not, Bill? They agree with the CP politically in every respect. They'd fit right in. Do you not want the CP to grow? You could get actual congressmen and senators that way.

Theocons are, although not as much as liberals, anti-Constitution. I've heard comments from theocons which lean towards a police state much like the standard of beliefs of socialist democrats. The point is simple - theocons don't follow the Constitution. The Constitution Party does.

*The goal isn't so much to get Congressmen and Senators, but more to educate the American public. They certainly aren't learning the truth from the flawed national public school system!!

Today I voted for Chuck Baldwin of the U.S. Constitution Party on the write-in ballot for President!
I'm glad there's somebody like the CP who would rather lose an election standing for what's morally and spiritually correct than win one selling out our human rights and civil liberties!!!

Today I voted for Chuck Baldwin of the U.S. Constitution Party on the write-in ballot for President!

And so your ballot was immediately thrown away without anyone ever looking at it. Brilliant!
