Vertigo

I just purchased U2's new single, "Vertigo" from iTunes (link goes to iTunes music store). It's pretty amazing. I've heard many people lately saying that they don't like U2's newer music, some even saying everything post-Joshua Tree is rubbish. I would have to disagree, but if you're in this camp, "Vertigo" will be music to your ears. It definitely hearkens back to the War era of the group, maybe with a little bit of a garage sound thrown in. I love it. The bass line is very catchy, The Edge does an excellent job on the guitar, and Bono lets the lyrics flow. If this is even a hint of what the rest of the new album sounds like, fans and semi-fans alike should be quite excited.

When are the first three or four albums/ cds by U2 going to be remastered. It been a long time since they came out on cd.

With the exception of "Achtung, Baby", U2's first 3 albums were their best 3, and I preferred their music then to what they have put out in the last 12 years or so. If this is a return to their roots, I am all for it.

It is a shame that some bands become so self important that they forget to make some good music, U2 and REM fall into that realm.
