Our three point plan
Published September 18, 2004
Since Et Cetera is run rampant with sloppy, unqualified opinions, and since the source of Blogcritics is to provide an opinion, especially if you don't want it, I'm unveiling the new three point scale from The Ministry of Consequences.
Unfounded opinions to Et Cetera will be rated in three categories:
- Dink
- Knickers
- Skid Mark
Cruel, but fair, and totally subject to change at any time. Contents may settle during shipping.
Please note, if sub-offices of The Ministry of Consequences are using ratings, please use your sub-office number in the following form: MoC: bnn: egDink.
where nn is your assigned MoC number. Please clear your bureau number with the Ministry.
FAQ - to answer some recent inqueries to the MoC:
The "dink" part of the metric system, the international standard
measurement of information density. Used as a meta-tag, it is a real
timesaver allowing officials from the Ministry of Consequences to
provide guidelines on the quality and quantity ratio of information
in blog posting. As many units of measurement are named after
scientists and natural philosophers, the "dink" is named after a
Three Stooges sound effect.
MoC guidelines do not recommend trying to measure sub-units of the
"dink" since the calibration of the instruments into the milli-dink
range is subject to quantum fluctuation where the content of actual
information is impossible to determine.
While measurements in the kilo-dink range are theoretically possible,
none have been recorded in the blogosphere.
Air Guitar - the musical expression of opinion-blogging, just as air guitar is to performing music, so most opinion-blogging is to actual thought and information. Fortunately many bloggers can aspire to karaoke.
Knickers - aside from it being a fun word to say, many spelling checks recommend "bloomers" as a correction for "bloggers".
