I beg to differ. Prince is all but forgotten today. He thrives, which is fortunate.

Sadly, ignorance does so as well.

Prince pushed this stinky turd out 18yrs ago. And 18yrs later after we have all forgotten about him, the movie is still a piece of crap.

Under the Cherry Moon was maudlin, with a weak, cheesy plot set up for narcisstic self-pity. The cheap martyrdom theme didn't impress me. However, all of that (except for the martyrdom part) would apply Purple Rain as well.

This is though, as Mr Lamb suggests, much more of a movie, with sets and scenery and such. Whereas Purple Rain was more obviously thrown together on a minimal budget with whatever happened to be on hand in Minneapolis.

Plus, these Parade songs are maybe even a little better than the Purple Rain soundtrack - if that is possible.
