A Rather Familiar Approach

The new twist in CBS's memo saga - the secretary who says she doesn't think the memos are real, but that the things discussed in the memo are true - sounds a lot like a strategy Bush supporters have used in the last 4 years.

PLAN A - The original shocking claim:

[Iraq] Iraq has weapons of mass destruction which pose a threat
[Swift Boat Vets] The facts show that John Kerry didn't really earn his medals
[CBS Memo] New memos are evidence of Bush's failure to complete service

PLAN B - Once evidence disproving the PLAN A claim comes out, accuser moves on to a different claim, which is harder to dispute:

[Iraq] Saddam is bad
[Swift Boat Vets] Kerry protested Vietnam
[CBS Memo] Well, some of the things written in the forged memo are true

The overall result? Because some of the allegations the accuser made are true (even if unrelated), everything gets blurred, and for the rest of the election cycle, the media will refer to "unresolved questions about _[insert topic]_" . . .

Could you please enlighten us as to which SBVT claims were proven untrue?

1) Military Records Contradict Thurlow

In newspaper interviews and a best-selling book, Larry Thurlow, who commanded a Navy Swift boat alongside Kerry in Vietnam, has strongly disputed Kerry's claim that the Massachusetts Democrat's boat came under fire during a mission in Viet Cong-controlled territory on March 13, 1969. Kerry won a Bronze Star for his actions that day.

But Thurlow's military records, portions of which were released yesterday to The Washington Post under the Freedom of Information Act, contain several references to "enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire" directed at "all units" of the five-boat flotilla. Thurlow won his own Bronze Star that day, and the citation praises him for providing assistance to a damaged Swift boat "despite enemy bullets flying about him."

2) Swift boat veterans without ties to Bush/GOP support Kerry/U.S. Military position on situation

And all this time, nobody asks:
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?"

now i am questioning if laura bush really killed an innocent person in a car wreck. i bet dan rather made that up. he probably staged the entire thing.

i am going to check this out for you guys. and i bet that bit about her being a lip stick wearing, pot dealing hooker is a lie too.

so i think that we can assume that the bush family and the christ family is one in the same. they are without sin. it is the evil doers or the evil dewars that create these lies.

More enlightenment for the Fox News crowd:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Navy's chief investigator concluded Friday that procedures were followed properly in the approval of Sen. John Kerry's Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals, according to an internal Navy memo.

Vice Adm. R.A. Route, the Navy inspector general, conducted the review of Kerry's Vietnam-ear military service awards at the request of Judicial Watch, a public interest group. The group has also asked for the release of additional records documenting the Democratic presidential candidate's military service.
