Master of the Moon
Dio
SPV

After a period of releasing some stinkers, Dio has gradually been getting back to his best. MotM continues this trend with an excellent 10 track affair. Dio has combined elements of Rainbow and Sabbath to produce a solid hard rock album. The rocking dwarf's voice is in great shape and he manages to show off his range and talent. The band is as tight as you expect from the notorious task-master. Highlights include the title track, 'Shivers', the awesome ode to paranoia 'In Eyes' and the AC/DC-esque 'The End of the World'. Lets put it this way, if you thought that Magica was good if a bit ott, then you will love this return to a simpler style of Dio. Oh yes, one more thing, not a rainbow (the thing) reference to be heard.

Rating: 4.5/5
