Burger King Black Angus Steak Burger

My experiences with this burger have been mixed.

I tried it first shortly after its introduction, and was impressed. It was superior in taste and quality to most fast food burgers, though nowhere near Fuddruckers, certainly not your favorite local handmade big burger.

I didn't find the barbecue or steak or whatever sauce that is objectionable, but I wanted to see what it would be like without it, adorned only with my condiment cocktail of choice (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, pickle, onion) so a few weeks later, I tried it again.

It was not quite as good as the first time, and I did not feel that this was due to the difference in condiments.

It's not unusual for fast food new launches to be much better in the first week than they ever are again, so I was disappointed to see the Black Angus burger roll into that slot, but undaunted and wishing to keep an open mind, I let a couple more weeks go by, and tried a third time.

That was a mistake. The third Black Angus burger had that liver flavor that hapless burger eaters encounter occasionally. The texture was dry. Fortunately, I had had the presence of mine to order one more Whopper than my dining companion could eat, and was able to enjoy that, and reflect on the relatively slight decline in quality that the Whopper has undergone over the years.

Burger King does not have a facility for ordering online, but most communities will have at least one Burger King, if you are brave enough to try the Black Angus Steak Burger for yourself. Get a Whopper, just in case. If by chance you have a pleasant Black Angus Steak Burger experience, you can always give the Whopper to someone else. Or you can throw all caution to the wind and eat both.

Eat 'em both. You only live once. :)

I had a very similar experience, although I must admit I did not try a 3rd time. The first one I had was great, and the second one was bad. The Whopper still reigns supreme at BK.

I found this whole discussion repulsive. You're a glutton if you're ordering an extra Whopper or consider yourself a fast food connoisseur who'd try it three times. The name of the burger does sound appetizing, even though I don't eat red meat.

That is all.

BAB, wouldn't the fact that you don't eat red meat somewhat color your "repulsive reflex" in this matter? I would think you would recuse yourself.

Ken, we may never know the Secret of the Whopper. I have spoken to people who swear it is the mayonnaise and onions, and be swiftly and emphatically contradicted by mustard and pickle only loyalists.

Another mystery: the Whopper Junior is not the same. If you do not want a whole Whopper, it is still better to order one cut in half and share it than to settle for the inferior Whopper Junior.

Bob while we can't know for sure if there is any red meat in many fast food products, just to err on the side of caution I would suggest that people who do not want to eat red meat avoid it. You might like the olivada better.

Two hamburgers might be gluttony for some people, and a snack for others, depending on a variety of factors. You can confirm this yourself by inviting a nearby teenager to the restaurant of your choice.

It is a good thing I did try it 3 times. That enables me to give a much more balanced view. I did not know that would make me a connoisseur of all fast food. Does that mean they will give me a discount?

i'm just glad to hear that someone can afford to "have it your way" 3 times! i mean, have you seen the prices lately? like how high can they raise the prices and still call them "value meals?" for $6.50 the other day,-i had a large baked chicken breast with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and a corn bread muffin. i'm saying if you can afford a few extra minutes, maybe "fast food" often isn't the way to go.

that's right ... fast food restaurants have almost become as expensive as normal restaurants ... you can spend a few minutes and dollars more and get a real meal at a nearby restaurant instead of fast food ...

for the angus díscussion:

i can't say that the angus has become less tasty or dropped quality something like that ... i've had good angus and bad ones and good ones after that ... i mean, its not a general quality drop .. it depends on many factors ... like the guy making the burger, the beef .. gets a bit dry sometimes

and trust me, i ate a lot of burgers the last 2 years because i work at burger king ...

and because of that i am just wondering about some things people say ... like that:

"the Whopper Junior is not the same."

.. it IS ... it has everything on it the "real" whopper has ... the only difference is the small bun and small beef patty but that tastes exactly like the big ones .. so why should a whopper junior be inferior ?

"Ken, we may never know the Secret of the Whopper. I have spoken to people who swear it is the mayonnaise and onions, and be swiftly and emphatically contradicted by mustard and pickle only loyalists. "

the ain't any mustard on the whopper at all ... or do they sell different whoppers where you live than where i do? .. maybe i should try a whopper with mustard sometimes ...

thats the good thing when you work at burger king .. you can experiment with the different ingedients, sauces and stuff ... of course only for your own burgers ... the burgers for the custmers are made strictly after the standards

;-)

actually, it is much cheaper to buy fast food every meal of the day than it is to go to the store and buy food to make a meal, probably half the price....think about it.

I rarely eat at fast food places, because i don't like them (on multiple levels). However, I was sort of forced to go with coworkers the other day, so thought I'd try the Angus burger. Since it was smothered in bbq sauce of some sort, it took several bites before I realized it had a funny aftertaste; sort of how I would imagine Mighty Dog dog food to be flavored (based on smelling it while serving it to my old dog). I'm not sure how else to describe it but the after taste was very disappointing. Just to be sure, I scraped off the sauce, lettuce, tomato, etc, and just had the meat by itself, w/o a bun. I then sense the same undesirable after taste but amplified. Gross. The best thing about this burger was the bun, which gets points for at least being more than the typical spongy crappy bun.

The Angus is gone :-( I'm one of those weird people who hates condiments. I order my burgers plain and dry with just a slice of cheese. I loved the Angus and ordered one almost weekly. And today my hubby said it is gone. That's one customer BK has lost. Cause now I can't have it my way. (A Whopper plain and dry with cheese is just not the same.) But maybe they don't need me...

The Angus is gone? i went today and no angus. i said is this another practical joke? and then drove away. ill miss it and the angus and shroom burger. ill no longer go to bk again.
