Five Wise...you want to finish by adding men to their name, are five guys with a fire burning in their bellies to make music that will entertain and delight their audiences, which they do with 200 shows a year up and down the east coast. They currently have four releases; three of them are live recordings. Taking the nod from the Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews Band, this band is most prolific in a live setting and they capitalize on that factor by releasing Out of Line, a live two CD set recorded at The Brickyard in Hartford, Connecticut.
This music is roots rock going full bore down the musical highway, and there are no stop signs or speed limits, think of it as the rock music autobahn. This band really cooks right along on both discs, there are no lapses in energy whatsoever, and their presentation of each song is as good as it gets. They feature a whirling Leslie organ (Craig Struble), sharp guitar licks (Ken Mehler), a three-man rhythm section (Charlie Sayer, Richard Oberero, Mike Keyes) that throbs and pulsates with resolute synchronicity, and vocals (everyone but Keyes and Struble) that grab you tight without letting you go. What does all of this add up to then? Simple-great American Roots Rock that can't be beat.
