Great title for a book.

You could find worse places to drop $10.47, the book's price at amazon.

I've long been fascinated by the apparently random educational paths of many people who've achieved great professional success.

I'm not talking about so-called "Harvard drop-outs" like Bill Gates - OK, sure, he indeed dropped out of Harvard at 19 to start Microsoft, but that's not the typical path of these somewhat quirky-pathed achievers.

No, what interests me are the philosophy majors who end up heading tech companies, and their ilk.

Since almost everyone in college today will end up holding a succession of jobs, rather than dad's "40 years and a gold watch" pathway, it would behoove such folks to simply learn what they want in college, then take their chances.

Remember, life is randomness laid upon an armature of determination.

You see the roulette ball: it is real and measurable.

You see the roulette wheel: it is real and meaurable.

You see the ball going around and around on the spinning wheel: where it stops is real, but not measurable - or knowable - in advance.
