Legal fight of the name Warlock

In a recent interview with BW&BK about her upcoming new album, Classic Diamonds, singer Doro Pesch revealed that the WARLOCK reunion show scheduled for this year's Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany (August 5th-7th) has been marred by a legal battle over the rights to the Warlock name. Pesch does not formally identify the person trying to put the brakes on the gig, saying only that Îa former guitar player' has tried to stop them from going ahead with the show. Pesch explains: "We've been rehearsing for the show, but there have been some major complications. As of yesterday (July 29th) we weren't even allowed to play the show; lawyers became involved, and we've been threatened with everything from six months jail time to being sued for ¥250,000. We've gone through hell over the last couple weeks. Things started off really well; I met the guys at the 20th Anniversary show and there were no more hard feelings. Back in the old days it was tough, but we've all gotten older, and when we played together last December it sounded really cool. We wanted to do something special for Wacken's 15th Anniversary, but then all this shit started coming down. It's just a heavy metal show, so I have no idea why this is happening. Things are being sorted out and we will play, but we might have to do it under a different name; maybe Warlock 1986 or something, I don't know. Whatever it takes, we have to play. I know many fans that never got a chance to see Warlock, so they're looking forward to the show and I don't want to let them down." Pesch and original guitarist Rudy Graf came up with Warlock name prior to the release of the band's 1984 debut Burning The Witches. Graf was not involved in the 20th Anniversary show because, according to Pesch, he couldn't be reached.
