ANTHRAX' album of rerecorded classics is due out this fall according to a recent update on guitarist Scott Ian's website. The posting read as follows: "John (Bush) has been in (bassist) Joey Vera's studio finishing up the vocals on Metallum, which might now be called, Old School, New School, Our School: Metallum Maximum Aeturnum. Or, just good 'ol Metal Thrashing Mad: MMA. What do you think since you voted on this? It sounds great. It's raw, loads of energy. Somehow even the song 'Anthrax' sounds current. Kind of. We'll mix it when we get home after Budapest and it's scheduled for release November 8 in Europe and November 23 in the states. Australia is in there as well. I will get you the exact dates. Both releases will have different extras. I think the Japanese release (a week before Europe) comes with a puppy." As previously reported, the album will feature the following tracks as voted by the fans: 'Anthrax', 'Panic', 'Metal Thrashing Mad', 'Death Rider', 'AIR', 'Madhouse', 'Lone Justice', 'Among The Living', 'Caught In A Mosh', 'Indians', 'N.F.L.', 'Be All, End All', 'Not It's Dark', 'In My World', 'Keep It In The Family' and 'Belly Of The Beast'.

I lost interest in Anthrax a long, long time ago when I believed they just ran out of great songs. However, right at that moment, they began their massive rise in popularity, not unlike Metalica, whose best days are far behind them, IMHO.
If Anthrax re-records their old classic material, it is a sign that they are muscially spent. They truly were one of the most exciting bands on the planet, twenty years ago.
