dude what you talkin about- lovedrug is fuckin awesome. i wasn't a fan until i saw them live a week ago... their live show is intense, orgasmic and just amazing... its a surreal experience. you have to hear it to believe it. and their music is crazy awesome too.. wicked bass lines, great drumwork and vocals-- just everything blends perfectly to create an original, captivating, trippy sound. dude, seriously, go listen to that album again and i bet you'll be ashamed of your review *wink, wink* wanna bet? peace out

obviously they like their own music. thats just a stupid thing to say and i think we all know it. anybody who is in a hard working band can testify that you dont bust your ass unless you LOVE your band. maybe you dudes dont have bands. i gotta agree with sonny. who gives a fuck if the lead singer likes goats and the artwork is shit. not everybody can afford awesome artwok. if the RECORDED MUSIC is pleasing, then you should say so. if you dont like it, you should say so. but all of the personal attacks are unnecessary, especially if you consider that in the world of music, about 80% of what you hear is probably a rumor. the above review is fucking stupid and it doesnt tell you a damn thing about the record. i have heard it. its not perfect, but i dig 2 or 3 of the songs. it definitely didnt deserve the treatment it got. surely everybody has heard 1,000,000 bands that are worse. lovedrug is a good band, just not for everybody. honestly, i think that most people who read that review would agree that the guy sounds like he has something personal against the band. i bet he is the old drummer or something. haha.

On the contrary, I think everything is fair game when it comes to a CD review, since I'm reviewing a specific product, not just their music.

If their CD jewel case was made by the lowest bidder, I'm gonna call them on it in the review.

If their lead singer was just arrested for taunting goats, I'm going to mention that too because knowing that information would subtly influence my perspective on the music of their CD.

Moreover, while listening to their CD, if I really do start wondering if the band actually likes their own music, I'm going to mention that too.

opinions are good. although i try to stay away from personal attacks on individual members personalities and preferances, its still good to get another perspective. you just have to learn to look past the obvious anger that is common in certain genres of music criticism, because it serves a purpose. some people just communicate better through sarcasm and wit. i think that we all remember that kid from class. well, that kid grew up and his vocabulary extended exponentially. extremes are always a good thing to examine. that way you learn to recognize them everywhere and stear clear. it would just as bad to say, "that lovedrug record was pretty neat-o" as a review. not enough and too much. opinion. some people definitely have scene anxiety. it will reflect in the attitude they take towards certain approaches to the worldwide religion of music. the guy who reviewed this record and some of the people that commented on it are extremists, but they offer challenges to musicians everywhere....the challenge to live beyond the irrational fear of rejection. when it comes to music, the only person to please is yourself. NOW, they might have good grounds if they feel like the motive in lovedrugs music is to "hit the big time" and "buy mansions" and "fuck supermodels", then it would make perfect sense to lambaste them for being so selfish. but only if the desire for wealth and fame stems from a desire for loathsome wasting on personal excess. but you cannot know the motives of the band. they could possibly care less about popularity...or...they could be actively planning on spending their soon to earned riches on homeless shelter finance. who knows and who cares. therefore, all reviews should be based on musical merits alone, and not an speculative forays into the ultimate plans of the bandmates for world domination. thats just silly. by the way, i love about HALF of the lovedrug record. i guess that makes sense.

you know, nothing brings good music back into the pop culture like getting online and ripping down bands that are taking a stab at something they enjoy. that's why when i hear a new band's debut album, i try to find the first band they,...kinda, sorta sound like and then compare. i mean, lovedrug is no match for my 2 peice garage band including just drums and guitar and bland red and white color scheme. for a second i started digging the lovedrug album but then i caught myself and thought, "hmm, if i like this then my friends will laugh at me." luckily i came to my senses and realized 3rd track "spiders" that had been stuck in my head all week really wasn't a good hook after all and i'm afraid that its potential pick for airplay on a hit tv series would jeoperdize my infinate wisdom to judge new bands (that are where i wanna be.) i remember the last time i heard a new band trying to break into the scene. it was the worst band i had ever heard at the time. they were so annoying and predictable. i mean just a bunch of repetitive crap. the lyrics were something like twist and shout or something, i can't remember. anyways, they never went anywhere. welp, thats enough bashing of this band. time to find something else i like and find a reason to not like it. peace out.

Sorry, Al, you and I are just not inside the demographic that the entertainment industry shoots for. It is hard putting on a smily face for a crappy band that sound like five other one-hit wonders from the old days, jaust as it is hard to show appreciation for a new, mnuch-heralded artist when you know own the records of the artists these latecomers sucked "unique, new sound" from. Once again, I am thankful for the internet for helping me find artists that are worth my time and effort, and technology for allowing me to rediscover and enjoy a lot of older, forgotten artists.

Inlove, if Lovedrug isn't "mainstream no talent crap," then I don't know what is. They sound pretty much just exactly like every pre-fab modern rock piece of crap going. I could not detect even one little quirk of personality from this band - much less a frickin' HOOK.

I swear to Ayn Rand, I'll listen to Britney Spears before I listen to that Lovedrug album again. I mean, I'll goddam pay cash money at Sam Goody's for a Britney Damned Spears record before I'll listen to Lovedrug for free.

Perhaps I need to dumb this down some more.

Tom, that has been my general impression of them from the three times I've seen them live. (None of them by choice, actually... they just happen to play with bands I want to see.)

When they use the keyboard and slow it down a bit, it gets really boring really quick. But when they ditch the keys and pick up that second guitar, it's enjoyable.

I thought I was actually a decent album. The big Fox-teen show ballads (like "Pretend You're Alive" - wishy-washy, bland, derivative - I can't believe anyone actually liked this, of all things on the album) dragged it down (and there's far too many of them,) but the more upbeat songs were pretty good, actually.

I got a copy of this cd yesterday when I saw them live at the cd release show. I wouldn't have gone cuz I'm not a lovedrug fan, but me without you was playing and I love their live show.

anyway, they put on a better show than I expected. So I tend to appriciate the album a bit more because of that experience.

Though, I haven't had a good chance yet to fully listen to the album.

Good on ya CE for this witty and fairly scathing review. This album bored me so bad that I couldn't even work up decent sarcasm for my review.
