Dave Liebeman at the Jazz Bakery

Electric Swing! There is no piano and the sounds are blending together wonderfully. I was late so as of yet, I have not heard Dave break out yet but, I am anxiously awaiting! There he is and his soprano sounds superb!

He plays with so much energy. Many of the tunes on his new CD were inspired by his daughter and Greek mythology. He pulled out this wooden flute that dropped you right into a meadow of some enchanted forest. Music and instruments that tell a tale, a story wild and alive with excitement, danger and surprising adventure!

Percussive and spirit summoning, a mountain, a volcano erupting with scattering, thundering and fleeting sounds of lurking wonder! Stories are what the world is made of and it is so great to hear the music and have it guide you through your own wild and creative imagination.

It is interesting because this fusion sound locks you into a quite different universe. Not your ordinary jazz groove but, a groove that is unto itself.

I am usually not the biggest fan of AC (electric music) but, when you can plug into my musical soul and provide me with an intrinsic introverted experience, the music speaks. After it has been heard, you have been immersed in the waters of your own imagination. It is wonderful penetrating osmosis. You can feel the music permeating, pouring over your body like chocolate syrup over ice cream and it is a delicious treat!
