<description>Actually, EO, Distel isn&#039;t that un-famous. Are you familiar with &quot;Where do you go to my lovely?&quot; by Peter Sarstedt? The lyrics mention him by name, in a slightly mocking vein. The lyrics of this song, by the way, are taut and have more than just a pathos to them; there&#039;s a searing indictment there of much of what we consider &#039;valuable&#039; nowadays. 

In any case, he was fairly influential on the jazz and chanson scenes in France for a while. His music isn&#039;t easily available -- even over at Amazon most of the CDs are imports. I don&#039;t think he really ever got into the mainstream (as in on the charts) and certainly I never knew of his US TV show (which is not saying a whole lot, since I&#039;m in India!)

But he wasn&#039;t unknown and even so you&#039;re no idiot. :-)</description>
