Review: Blue Collar Comedy Tour - The Movie

My old Air Force buddy sent me this one for my birthday. I've gotta admit, my initial reaction was, "Hmmmm, I'll watch it sometime, but no hurry."

Well, we sat down and watched it last night. Now I was born in Alabama and raised in Texas, so I may be a bit biased in my assessment.

Side. Splitting. Funny.

Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill "Here's Your Sign" Engval, and Jeff Foxworthy teamed up a couple of years ago for a nationwide comedy tour. This movie follows them through a day around Phoenix, AZ prior to the show, and of course, the show itself. Up until last night, I had only heard of Jeff Foxworthy; all four comedians, though are equally as funny as him.

You don't have to be a redneck to enjoy this film. But in the same way that Galaxy Quest was even funnier if you've been to a Star Trek convention or two, the humor in this show is appreciated even more if you are a redneck (like me) or know one. So get that truck off the blocks in front of the house and go to your local video store now. You won't regret it. Oh, and thanks for the video, Rob. It's one of the best presents I've had in a while.

Make sure you watch through the credits. There's a short spot where Larry the Cable Guy will give you a double-take. Now, what are you waiting for? GO!

Rated PG-13 for mild language and sexual innuendo. Appropriate for teenagers and above.

That can be taken as either a recommendation or a warning, depending on how you look at it . . .

Wouldn't it be quicker just to take the PT Cruiser?

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I watched this and laughed hard twice. The rest of the time I find the jokes to be really stupid. I might have laughed if I saw this when I was 10 years old, but not now (I'm 25).

But then again, to me the biggest comic genius of our time is Larry David. Also, I laughed more watching the most recent Dennis Miller one hour special then I did watch this "movie." I guess that makes a difference.

If you know any of these 4 guys, and like their comedy, you will enjoy this movie. If you are a person who goes for Dennis Miller, or perhaps Larry David comedy, don't see it.

I listened to the soundtrack while deployed and I laughed my ass off. I like Dennis Miller, too.

Rent it and make up your own mind. Unfortunately comedy albums/movies don't have too much replay value, unless you watch them with new people each time.

Pappy:

As a big Dennis Miller fan, I'm afraid I must disagree with your last statement: I enjoy them both.

That being said, different strokes for different folks. I enjoy a broad variety of comedy styles and subject matter. Some won't like Foxworthy, others will be turned off by Miller. I personally think that Steven Wright is a comic genius. As SFC Ski said, rent it and make up your own mind.

It's "lowest common denominator' comedy. It's painful to watch(even for ten minutes!). I think of funnier stuff in my head every day. I had to sit through 10 lame jokes just to get 1 halfway good one. Of course, I like clever humor , the kind that makes you think or even not get the joke initially. If your a fat loaded redneck you'll love this. Some normal people will like it too, I mean there's always exceptions right?

Stupid people need jokes too!

Considering the errors you made in spelling and grammar, Greg, I am surprised you didn't like this movie more.

I watched the movie twice and I'm still laughing. It's really funny to say the least. So what's the deal with Larry David anyway? I'd rather watch four rednecks entertanining people than one asshole making a fool out of himself any day.
