Louise "Weezie" Jefferson Passes On
Published July 12, 2004
It is a sad to read that actress Isabel Sanford has passed away. Her most noted role was that of Louise "Weezie" Jefferson, wife of the insufferable and rather cantankerous George Jefferson, in the hit 70s series, The Jeffersons.
I really miss politically-charged sitcoms like The Jeffersons and its contemporaries: Archie Bunker, Sanford & Son's, and Good Times. The issue of race was not sugar-coated like it was in the 80s, but talked about frankly, and rather colorfully. George Jefferson was not reticent at all in calling someone a "honky". Say that today and an FCC fine is yours.
But most important, these sitcoms were funny-- very funny.

Adds a new meaning to moving on up to the east side to a deluxe apartment in the sky.
An article with some additional information on Ms. Sanford.
Ms. Isabel Sanford("Weezy") you are a truly beautiful lady. May god rest your soul. To a sweet and funny lady: Love ya. Good bye...
Sincerely,
THTRHMN
Is it me, or has every woman named Louise who grew up during the Jeffersons age been called "Weezy" by her friends?
yes, especially the emphysema patients
It is sad that you have to hear this from hear-say and it was not covered in the media because everyone else of any importance was on the news and covered more than anyone would like to have seen
Fox-N-Friends (the morning show) talked about her death. I don't think the media have been "burying" (pardon the pun) this item...

thanks Niraj, very sorry to hear this.
