Legal CD Sharing - BarterBee.com

A reader pointed me in the direction of BarterBee.com, saying he was very happy with the system. He was anxious for me to help spread the word as the more people participate, the wider the selection: enlightened self-interest, I approve.

Members exchange CDs (movies and games coming soon) the old-fashioned way: physically, by mail. Here's how it works:

If you are like most people, you have way too many old CDs, DVDs, and video games just sitting around the house collecting dust. Why should you pay top dollar for new items when you can trade-in what you already have for something you really want? For less than $1.00 per item, you can push your entertainment tastes to the limits. The more you share of your own collection, the more you'll be able to collect.

Quite simply, BarterBee.com allows you to Trade-In your existing items for new and more interesting ones. Best of all, you can keep the item as long as you would like. If you want to keep it for yourself, you can do so. If you are not happy with your new item, simply list it back on BarterBee.com and select another one. It's that easy!

    Unlimited Trading!
Not only does your membership allow you the ability to get your choice of CD's, DVD's and Video Games, but it also allows you the ability to get as many of them as you would like. Simply add more of your old stuff to BarterBee.com and be on your way towards replacing your entire old collection.

    Benefits
No need to "Sell" your items and take part of the complicated Selling Process offered on other sites. Never worry about whether someone will actually pay you for your item since cash is never exchanged between members! Never pay top dollar for what becomes obsolete only a few weeks after it hits the market. Use BarterBee.com as a way to build the ultimate media collection or simply use it to finish-off your music library...It's entirely up to you. Turn your existing collection into literally an endless way to view, listen and play all of the latest releases. Don't you think it's time to get what you want?

    Cancellation Policy
Simple! Cancel at any time for any reason.

Initial membership fee is $18.95 for the first three months and $5.95 for each additional month after the third. full terms and conditions are here.

Yet another option worth looking into.

The problem for me with a service like this is I have way too many CDs that I can't find time to listen to already - I'm probably better off taking the stuff I know I don't want in to the used record store once or twice a year.

good point. i guess you can trade the cd's for movies and games though.

the site says they will have them soon...whatever that means.

i'm told movies will be up second week of august, games a couple weeks after that. i've already done a number of trades there and it's been great.

I just signed up, the movies are up too! Seems like there is a good selection of movies and cds. I will update everyone after my first transaction.

Here's another site that is cheaper and does the same thing. They've got a lot more information too and you can see what is in the site without having to pay first.
