Jesse Jackson deserves r-e-s-p-e-c-t

The Buzzflash has asked a question I have wondered about, as well. Why do some people hate Jesse Jackson so much?

Oh, my, my, my, how some white folk love to hate Jesse Jackson.

He's the black Hillary Clinton to them. A non-white male who happens to be smarter than most of them and isn't intimidated. Not to mention that he knows how to handle the media.

All in all, that makes him a dangerous man to white males. Because if the Bush administration has taught us anything, it has taught us that modern-day Neo-Confederacy Republicanism is all about white male entitlement. The real reason that the majority of white males support Bush is that they figure that if you can be as dimwitted, feeble, ineffective, bumbling, and inarticulate as Bush and still be president, then there's hope for any white male.

My former longterm significant other, a white man from Virginia, refers to the mentality of Jesse Jackson haters as 'whitey's last stand.' I think he, and the Buzz, are on to something. Compared to the outrages perpetrated by powerful white men in politics and industry, Rev. Jackson has done our society virtually no harm. Quite the opposite. His brave advocacy during the civil rights movement helped achieve the access to public places for people of color most Americans take for granted. His so-called 'shakedowns' of corporations have focused attention on their policies of ignoring nonwhite job applicants and joint venturers unless the bright light of publicity shines on them. If it wasn't known that civil rights leaders will raise hell when state college admissions return to their damn near lily white past as they did in Texas, they would have returned to the status quo. The backlash against affirmative action notwithstanding, Rev. Jackson has been a tireless advocate of fairness in college admissions.

Is Rev. Jesse Jackson perfect? Has he said some things he might regret? No and Yes. But, so what. Put in any human being's name and the answer to the two questions is still no and yes.

Let's face it, Rev. Jackson has too often literally been the "whipping boy" of the displaced white male (who ironically, whines about being a victim of equality) trying to restore the glory days of a society where the white male was king of his castle or master of his plantation. If Rev. Jackson were a Republican (let's just dismiss the impossibility here on philosophical reasons alone), he'd probably be using Dick Cheney for a hand puppet.

Jessee Jackson should never be considerd a civil rights leader. He gets his fortunes by strong arming organizations. He is a political opportunist.

In a time when about 70% of black children are born out of wedlock, instead of criticizing this and doing things to strengthen the family and therefore strengthen the ability of black people to get ahead , he participates in fathering out of wedlock children.

Hard work, preserverance and dedication get people ahead in this world, not reliance on a welfare state which only keeps people down and stagnates ingenuity. After all, why work and get ahead when the welfare state can take care of me and my bastard children.

I also take offense with the fact that you say people like Larry Elder (and I may add Dr. Walter E. Williams) have gotten ahead because of the White Republicans.

Can't the same be said for black leaders in the Democratic party? It can go both ways, and I don't believe either party has "uncle tom" blacks.

MEGO! Tom. Tom. Tom. Sometimes the Diva thinks your plump behind would benefit from a good spanking. (Where's Ms. Tek when one needs her?)

The difference between the overwhelmingly Democratic black politicians and the Uncle Tom Tom Club is that the pols have constituencies composed of people who have proven their support. If there are ever black pols from the GOP who can say the same thing, good for them. But, the policies of the Republicans, and their Southern Strategy of currying favor with whites by opposing progress in civil rights, condemn them to little support from that part of the electorate for the foreseeable future. The UTTC members you cite owe their very limited success to the white Right. In a way, they are just as much the property of white people in 2004 as they would have been in 1804.

"In a way, they are just as much the property of white people in 2004 as they would have been in 1804."

So. You agree with Harry Belafonte that Colin Powell is a "house slave"?

And what about JC Watts, who was elected to the Congress numerous times? He's just a "house slave" of the Republican Party as well?

Jesse Jackson is a big black fucking idiot plain and simple. It's time that the shit stirring son of a bitch gets a real job. He spends all of his time running all over America sticking his big nose in places and situations tha they don't belong.

People like they hateful bastard along with AL Sharpton is the reason why the racism issues are never allowed to resolve. As for smart, he doesn't know shit except how to try and speak like a "real" smart white man and try to rhyme his useless bullshit.

In other words I woudn't piss down his throat if his guts were on fire!

Hmmm, perhaps "the reason why the racism issues are never allowed to resolve" is because of people like the frightening Jerry.

Let me explain why whites do not enjoy racial dialoque. I know how Republicans love to see simplified black and white analogies so I will make one for you.

We will ignore all other races for this argument. You have two races: black and white. By any meaningful measure produced to date whites are, on average, the dominant more successful race in this country.

That could have happened for two reasons.

1) The black race is inferior and not capable of competing in the existing society. If you agree with this you are by definition a racist.

2) The white race has held down and sabotaged the black race's attempts to compete. If you are white and you agree with this then you are admitting that whites in general are racist.

These are both uncomfortable choices but variations on this theme are used by Reverend Jackson during his "shake-downs". Ir is a very effective argument and hard to rebut.

Notice how she bring up my weight? Sure, I'm a little chubby I'll admit it. But if I ever said something similar and changed out the word "plump" for "black" you would see how mrs hypocrite would scream bloody murder.

#9 — June 29, 2004 @ 01:29AM — Mac Diva [URL]

Saying someone is plump and using a racial slur are not remotely equivalent. Try again, Tubby Tom.

(Guy can't take a little lighthearted teasing. Jeez!)

Reftard, I think No. 2 is what makes many people uncomfortable. If they admit there has been racial discrimination and that it and its effects continue, someone has to have done the discriminating. That leads us to white people. But, many white people simply cannot admit that they or other white people have done and continue to do a great wrong. So, the blame for the continuing depressed state of black and Hispanic Americans has to be shifted to the victims themselves to protect these white people's sense of who they are. Some of them end up at No. 1 by way of No. 2. For example, a person who can't admit that ghettoes and barrios exist because nonwhites were purposely separated from whites residentially, will come up with a racist excuse.

I must take issue with the claim Jesse Jackson is stupid, Tom and Jerry. (Hmmm. And, they are cartoonish.) I haven't seen any evidence he is stupid at all. If you have some, share it. Take all the space you need.

But, the main reason I linked to The Buzzflash's article and interview of Rev. Jackson is I think he is criticized too much. The degree of the criticism of him surpasses any directed at powerful white men who really are doing harm to the United States.

I believe in being respectful to everyone's point of view. However, sometimes, a person's point of view is obviously based on ignorance, and racism. Jesse Jackson is in my opinion of average intelligence who rode the coattails of Dr. King. How can a person who considers themself an intelligent person make a statement like, "he is smarter than most white males"? Does the speaker truly believe this? If so, based on what exactly? Sounds like a white-bashing liberal glib soundbite to me and utterly lacking substance. Some of the issues he stands for, and some of the things I've heard him say are very ignorant and divisive. Jesse Jackson is a racist because he doesn't believe in equality for everyone, just for "colored" people. The majority of folks in this country who live in poverty are "white". Affirmative action has taken a foothold on all of the major inner cities across this nation where white folks are minorities. I don't hear Jesse Jackson standing up for the racism and unfairness experienced by whites in the inner city who are hurt by affirmative action. Ever wonder why whites flee the major cities; to get a fair shake. And I'm not talking about the privileged whites who are as alien and different from poor whites as they are from blacks. Next time you want to criticize white males remember this: there would be no America were it not for white males. Myself, I'm not an "angry white male" attempting to preserve my priveleged status. Most people in this world, including blacks could not have been as successful and come as far as I have considering my background. I grew up in the projects of Miami. I was the only white kid on my block. My grandparents raised me, just like many of my black schoolmates. While they taught me the importance of doing well in school, my black school mates' only concern was "sports." Since only the cream of the crop is going to make it in sports, and since most of my black counterparts ignored school, it's no surprise many of them turned to selling drugs or crime. I had no privilege. I had no sugar daddy. I had no powerful influential relatives to extend a helping hand, in fact, what I had was a society around me utterly indifferent to my plight. The blacks around me didn't accept me. Affirmative action had no kind words of guidance to offer me. Society pointed an indignant finger at me and said, "you, privileged white male, you need no help." Where would I get the money to go to college? Was there a white college fund perhaps? Even as a small child I realized the inequities of there being a "negro college fund" while all around me the young black children could care less about me or education. I had no alternative but to join the military, which by the way is flooded with black and white alike, all poor, but mostly white. I am now a successful attorney. All of my black childhood friends are truly in prison now. And why? Is that my fault? Of course not. I know for a fact, that they had more opportunities than I did. I went back home a couple of years ago to see my friend Ronald. When I got to his house I saw his mother "Boosie". She told me he's in prison. I asked her who the little ones were running around and she said they were Ronald's illegitimate kids. I'm married with two small children, no illegitimate kids. I clawed my way out of the projects, and I'm not bitter for it, but it makes my hair raise when I hear these pompous little privileged black liberals talking about white privilege. It's an absolute crock. You know why primarily blacks and whites end up differently; because the standards for whites are higher than for blacks. As long as the blacks can blame whitey for this or that, they are not accountable. This attitude combined with the utter disregard and ignorance of the importance of education among black families, which I experienced first hand, has always been the anathema to the black people of this Nation. My idea is let all whites leave these United States and give it all to the blacks and others i.e. Mexicans who live here..........

Now within 10 years re-visit the United States to see how everyone is doing.

Does anyone have any ideas where the U.S. would be if all Whites left...

What kind of government would be in place?

Would there be land ownership?

Capitalism?

Ect, ect........

Where is Jessee Jackson now that he is needed? Blacks areloosing their jobs to Illegals every day. These Illegals are taking over our country without any regard to the law, and vice-versa.
It is time the Black Community was heard. Being Illegal is NOT a Civil Right.
We wouldn't be allowed to demonstrate in those large numbers, or the National Guards would have been called out on us.

Whites don't 'hate' Jesse Jackson, because they don't love him enough to hate him. They're merely annoyed by him because he's a loud idiotic racemonger. Actually lots of black intelligentsia hate him as well, they say he doesn't speak for them and he doesn't...he just makes lazy fuckers like himself who think the world should give him head feel like they're great upstanding citizens worthy of riches or accolades. You never hear him say shit when that black teacher was suggesting people go on a killing spree on whites...why? Because Jesse Jackson's a hypocritical bigot, thats why. Oh check out blackpeopleloveus.com that seems like a site Jesse Jackson should check out.

Yup folks. Thats right. We are out to oppress the black man.

My mom had to work 7 days a week, 10 hours a day for years to keep us off the street. And in her free time she not only kept the black man down but took us kids to the weekly cross burning ceremony.

Take your white man conspiracies and shove it!!!!!
