YOU Can Enter Our Horror Film Contest!

Are YOU an unknown or little-known horror filmmaker, writer, actor, musician ... or some other artist involved in horror filmmaking? The Hollywood Investigator is sponsoring a NO ENTRY FEE horror film contest!

These past years, the Hollywood Investigator has covered such horror film festivals as Screamfest L.A., Shriekfest, and Screamfest in Florida. We've profiled Christmas horror films, horror writer Ray Bradbury, and horror actors Jonathan Frid, David Drake, Leanna Chamish, and Dee Snider.

Now, in Halloween 2004, we want to discover YOU! — in our Hollywood Investigator Halloween Horror Film Awards!

WHAT TO DO: If you have a finished horror film — short work or feature — that's received little or no distribution (aside from the festival circuit) — then we invite you to send it to us. Between now and early October, we will be reviewing all submissions, selecting the best of the best.

WHAT YOU GET: The best of the best will be profiled in a Hollywood Investigator article for Halloween 2004. We plan to highlight at least one short and one feature film, but we may profile additional films, and the people involved (actors, musicians, sfx people, etc.), depending on what we see. Selection of films and artists profiled will be at the exclusive discretion of the Hollywood Investigator.

POSSIBLE BONUS: We hope to sponsor a public screening of top films, possibly in spring 2005. But this would be a bonus; there is no guarantee of a screening. Filmmakers will be contacted for permission to screen their films before any such event.

ENTRY FEE: There is NO entry fee! We're not looking to make money off of desperate artists — we're only seeking new discoveries for a story in October 2004! [If this proves more costly than anticipated, we may charge a fee come Halloween 2005 — so enter now!]

WHAT FORMAT: We prefer films to be submitted on DVD, but VHS or S-VHS accepted. Format will not affect judging.

GENRE: Horror, broadly defined to include anything scary. Evil space aliens, supernatural monsters, psychos and slashers. Horror combined with comedy (Motel Hell, An American Werewolf in London) is also fine, provided a horror content remains.

WHERE TO SUBMIT: Before August 1, please send films to: Thomas M. Sipos, PO Box 751120, Forest Hills, NY 11375-8720. Postmarked after August 1, send films to: Thomas M. Sipos, PO Box 1903, Santa Monica, CA 90406-1903. Films will reach us either way, but it will make things easier. Films will not be returned, so don't send your only copy.
