Judge blocks Lil Kim from touring

CMU is reporting the following on Lil' Kim's most recent woes.
A federal judge in the US has blocked attempts by rapper Lil Kim to perform at a festival on the Caribbean island of St Kitts later this month. Kim - real name Kimberley Jones - is still on bail relating to recent charges over allegations that she lied to a grand jury during an investigation in a shootout outside a New York radio station back in 2001.Judge Gerard Lynch criticised Jones for agreeing to perform at the St Kitts Music Festival without first requesting permission to sidestep the bail condition which says she must not leave the US.
Responding to Jones' lawyer, who said at one point, "Your honour, this is a well-known performer," the judge said: "Just because you're a celebrity doesn't mean you can jump bail and leave the country."
It appears the government of St Kitts had agreed to let Lil Kim onto the island without her passport - which she surrendered when arrested over the perjury charges. Her lawyers argued that because she would travel without a passport she would be obligated to return, reducing the risk involved in relaxing her bail conditions.
But Lynch was not to be swayed, meaning the rapper will have to forgo the festival and her reported $35,000 fee. Her agents are also likely to have to compensate the organisers of the festival for cancelling so close to the event.
