"In the end however, right IS right. You can change the terms, change definitions, do whatever you like, but it will make it no more correct to treat people unhumanely... no matter what side it is."

Then you say:

"If Israel were to just sink in the sea... well I wouldn't mind that much either. Just like I wouldn't mind if every neo-con right wing, psycho christian were to spontaneously combust. I wouldn't care, wouldn't shed a tear, and the world just might be a better place for it."

MAybe the world would be a better place if people like yourself would spontaneously combust Ms. Tek? I'm sorry.....did that seem hateful? A bit extreme maybe? Cold-hearted?

Let me spell this out to you all for the 500th time T-H-E G-E-N-E-V-A --C-O-N-V-E-N-T-I-O-N D-O-E-S N-O-T A-P-P-L-Y.

Since I assume you have never read the Geneva Conventions and are just regurgitating left wing propaganda I will quote from Article 5 for you

"Where in occupied territory an individual protected person is detained as a spy or saboteur, or as a person under definite suspicion of activity hostile to the security of the Occupying Power, such person shall, in those cases where absolute military security so requires, be regarded as having forfeited rights of communication under the present Convention."

The holding of Al Quaeda leadership in secret is fully allowed under Geneva Convention law. The only confirmed breaking of international law to date has been the treatment of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib some of whom were military who had laid down there arms. Here is the relevant passage from article 3:

"1. Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria.

To this end, the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:

(c) Outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment;"

I think I've seen this kind of negative ad hominem attack before.

I'm pro-Palestine, but I don't think Israel should fall into the sea nor should the entire Middle East disappear. That's an odd choice of images. The people there actually have more claim to their heritage than anyone else -- cradle of civilization and all. Hence all the disputes about territory.

I do think it's odd that there's been such a convergence of right wingers and their sudden support for Jews and the Israeli state that you didn't see several years ago. The United States has always been Israel's primary ally, but the fervor from the right wing has seemed especially pronounced the last few years. This might partly be because of the role of Jewish intellectuals like Wolfowitz and Perle in the neo-con movement, but traditionally, conservatives have not been particularly friendly to Jewish people in this country. Of course 9/11 makes us more willing to support Israel in its struggles in the region, but I think this may be another case of assuming the enemy of your enemy is your friend. I don't think that American Jewish voters will be particularly fooled by it and defect from their usual heavily Democratic vote, but this is an important question since Bush's standing among Jewish seniors could be key to Florida. I'm not sure whether the conservative Gentile embrace of Zionism is purely strategic or tactical or what, but it's an interesting phenomenon. I wonder whether it's reflected in the attitudes toward Jews living in America who still face discrimination today. I'm sure this has been written about and I just haven't seen it.

That is all.

Wow, no wonder you don't do so well in school. It has nothing to do with liberal teachers but with your reading and logic skills. There are so many people here on BC that could do with a refresher in reading comprehension.

I said I wouldn't mind... not that I <em>wish</em>. I wish I had new motorcycle. I don't wish anything about the Middle East. When I make wishes, I'm terribly selfish in nature. I wish for money, motorcycles, pina coladas, and private airplanes. It so much more fun to wish for cool toys and fun things than to think about icky stuff. At least I find it so.

Main Entry: geno·cide
Pronunciation: 'je-n&-"sId
Function: noun
: the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group

I said the whole of the MIDDLE EAST. I never said arabs, muslims, Isrealis... The whole of the Middle East covers a lot of creeds, cultures and political affilations. Considering that these can also be found in other parts of the world due to migration, and I really have no issue with these things in general, I see no reason to hunt and seek specfic targets out. Furthermore, I also said fall into the sea. I said nothing about going over and killing people. I know your war-gunsgunsgunsbangbangbangbombsbombsbomb mind has a hard time grasping the concept between a fortuitous natural disaster and actively going out and hurting someone. To try to simply for you... it is as different as if you are auspicious enough to walk by and a ripe apple falls from the tree and going up to a tree and violently shaking it to get an apple.

<b>wishing for the deaths of those who you disagree with...</b>

Once again.. read. Also, try not to <i>infer</i> more facts than are actually stated. If you ever go to graduate school, this will be an important thing to remember. Once again, I said I wouldn't mind... not wish. Secondly, just because I disagree with you doesn't mean that I would wish your death. I disagree with how the Taiwanese eat dinner, I find it gross and offensive to my western manners... however I don't have any ill will toward them. See... they never tried to force anything on me. They can burp and grunt during a meal all they want. If I don;t like it, I don't have to take a meal with them. They don't try to shove their customs down my throat... I don't try to shove mine down theirs.

It's really rather simple. Simple enough that even you should be able to grasp this concept.

But good job on your RiWinger debating skills. =) You're almost ready to take over from Rush Limbaugh or Ann "Horseface" Coulter.

You know... that actually might be a good career for you... Radio that is. No one can see you and wonder if you are packin' or not! Your penis envy can stay your secret between us Blogcritcs and yourself!

I have no desire to be in the military. I tried it out- hated it. Not all that long ago, I thought about doing it again... just couldn't deal with the thought of potentially taking a bullet for Bush's policies. I'll pick up a gun and defend this country in a moment... but I won't harm a person or be harmed because of a NeoCon agenda.

On top of it, save for the Navy... I'm too old now.

But you are so gung-ho about these things, I just don't understand why you aren't out there yourself. Surely you can pass the physical, can't you? They don't care about penis size in the miliary. They only check the lenth of your BODY not your member. If you are short, the Navy will take you. They take em old, young, short, tall.

Ah... and here is where your simplicity shows...

In the grand scheme of things.. I don't care about the terrorists or about the Iraqis or the Americans. Everyone feels pains. Everyone feels that they have a legitimate reason for doing the things that they do.

In the end however, right IS right. You can change the terms, change definitions, do whatever you like, but it will make it no more correct to treat people unhumanely... no matter what side it is.

<b>Did the American values you were taught in school include the destruction of Israel and everyone in it? Because, you know, that's what you hope for...
</b>

RJ, what did I tell you about putting words in my mouth? But let me spell it out for you since I know that this is difficult for you, then you can run off and play.

I don't hope for anything specific when it comes to Israel. I am only concerned when it affects the United States. Frankly, I think the world would be better off if the whole of the Middle East were to sink into the bowels of the earth never to be seen again. Now THAT is wishful thinking.

If Israel were to just sink in the sea... well I wouldn't mind that much either. Just like I wouldn't mind if every neo-con right wing, psycho christian were to spontaneously combust. I wouldn't care, wouldn't shed a tear, and the world just might be a better place for it.

Now, if you want to discuss Isreal, I suggest you start another thread. No topic hijackiing by you, Kiddo. At least not in this post now... We can discuss your issues with homosexuals, women, and penis size in another post. Not here. I know you. That is what every discussion with you turns into.

When are you joining the military again?

"So are you saying RJ that since others mistreat people then that gives the United States the right to do so in turn?"

The US can do whatever it wants to do with terrorists. They are NOT "soldiers" that are covered by the GC. They are psychopathic murderers.

Why does it seem that you are more concerned that a few terrorists are being maltreated at the hands of the US military than you are that hundreds of Americans and innocent Iraqis are being butchered by these savages?

<i>I think that Sen. Joseph Biden (D., Del.) summed it up very succinctly:</i>

<i>"There's a reason why we sign these treaties: to protect my son in the military. That's why we have these treaties, so when Americans are captured they are not tortured. That's the reason in case anybody forgets it."</i>

Too bad it never works out that way.

Whenever the US faces an enemy, the enemy treats our prisoners worse than we treat theirs, but the focus is always on our "maltreatment." It never fails.
