I think Robert Smith is spot on.This music for people nostalgic for their student bedsit days.The most overrated aspect of Morrisey/Smiths is the lyrics which are twee and banal. Johnny Marr is brilliant, Morrissey is the original king with no clothes.

Everyone is allowed to their opinion, and I am sticking with Morrissey he is a Brilliant artist, amazing lyrics!!!!! With wonderful opinions that I am sure alot of us agree with !!

I agree with Robert E Smith of The Cure. In an interview in The Guardian on Saturday, he advanced his theory that The Smiths' influence is vastly exaggerated because a significant number of influential media people are hardcore Smiths fans.

Nope Tim, I agree with you. I always thought Marr was decent guitarist but most of stuff done by the Smiths was pants. Morrissey's post Smiths stuff, now that he doesnt have Marr to rein him in, is even more self indulgent crap.

I believe the president would also reject the apocalyptic gloom of "Every Day Is Like Sunday," which makes for a great song but rather fatalistic policy.

I just keep thinking "The World is full of Crashing Bores" and I believe that means it is full of boring internet posts too. This is non-news reported days ago. Why re-hash the humdrum and predictable? As it was put impeccably: "Why on earth would anyone who finds the concept of a right-wing leader dying be surprised by the words of someone who called for Thatcher to have her head chopped off?" (And I am keeping all my Moz/Smiths CDs because I still think he's oftentimes nothing short of brilliant.)

Good old Morrissey. Always inciting controversy. The irony, man. One day he's being attacked for being obviously a right-wing nazi and the next he's being attacked for being obviously a left-wing militant. Don't make a lick of sense. Morrissey, The Duke still loves you. And "Margaret On The Guilitine" was a great song.
