Is Forrest Gump Running the United States?

So it appears that the numbers spat out about the decrease in terrorism in April were not only wrong, but that terrorism had actually risen.

In an embarrassing admission, the State Department has acknowledged that the global terrorism report it issued in late April contained significant errors and that a corrected edition being prepared will show that terrorist attacks and fatalities in 2003 increased, rather than declined as initially stated.

Wow, seems like that "War on Terrorism" is proving just as effective as the "War on Drugs" But how could such a mistake in the tallies have occurred? How could there have yet another "embarrassing admission" of ineptitude by the State Department so soon. Who is to blame?

In a talk with reporters Friday, Mr. Powell acknowledged the reporting errors, calling them "very disturbing." But he insisted they were the result of poor coordination between the State Department and other agencies tabulating terrorist incidents and "had nothing to do" with any attempt to manipulate the figures.

Those comments were echoed by State Department spokesman Richard Boucher, who said the CIA, FBI and other agencies contributing data had differing definitions of terrorist acts and the time-frame covered by the report.

I see, the fault lies in the CIA, FBI and other agencies. But wait... where did I hear this before? Oh I remember:

The 9/11 commission.

But wait... where else did I hear that the CIA was at fault??

It's coming back to me:

The CIA and the "yellowcake" issue.

Anyone see an ongoing theme here? Seems like that CIA just is one big organizational fuck up!

But lets take this out of just general observation for a moment and delve into the shadowy world of Conspiracy Theories.

This little tidbit was brought to my attention: Is Bush In a Well Crafted Trap?

Yeah, I was calling him President Gump for a while, but my mom got offended 'cause she likes Forrest.

The administration couldn't have been helped by Ashcroft's treasonous performance before Congress yesterday. If they did win the election, they'd just be buried in litigation (like the last three second-term Presidents, but worse.)

But I just can't see them getting the votes to get the electoral college again. This administration is broken, and all the President's horses and all the President's men will never put Humpty Dumbass back in office again.

But how could such a mistake in the tallies have occurred?

They probably contracted out the report to Halliburton.
