Water Problems

If you are ever in a swimming pool and you hear someone coughing, the first thought that comes to your mind is that this person must have swallowed water. Maybe you'll check on them; "Hey, what happened?" " ::cough:: I swallowed some water." Apparently the pool is the only place where swallowing water gives us a problem. We can do it 100 times a day just fine outside of the pool, but in the pool I guess we lose our water swallowing ability.
Outside the pool: "I swallowed water... that was cool and refreshing. Can I have some more please?"
Inside the pool: "I swallowed water... Someone help me! Oh no! Call the life guard!
...Why aren't there any fish life guards? They could just kinda float around at the surface, and if they see another fish out of the water for too long, they'd pull them back in. And, if necessary, they will perform gill-to-gill resuscitation.

When people "drink" water in a swimming pool, it's generally unintentional. Like, they inhaled, and instead of air, it was water.
You're a funny guy though. And most half-pickled audiences at a stand-up club wouldn't bother to discover the very logical reason why this is so.
"why this is so"
Er, to clarify: Why "drinking" water in a pool isn't as pleasurable as sipping from a bottle of Zephyrhills...
Thanks.
And thanks for the clarification too.
Although... it could be true either way.

There's something called chlorine in pool water that doesn't taste very nice in your mouth or feel very pleasant in your stomach.
