I am WordPressed and Impressed!

I initially had a few problems with some of my hacks because they were not playing friendly with each other. On top of it, a lot of the WP documentation is a bit "lacking" to put it diplomatically. I went on to the WP boards and IRC and to be honest was initially greeted with some unfriendly people. This was a bit of a shock after dealing with the MovableType community. I actually had to deal with one wank-stain who wanted to go on about why he thought I should vote for Bush or that I should move to France because after viewing my site, it was clear where my vote lies this year. I thought it was very inappropriate for him to go on like that in a help community. I then got some nasty emails and comments on my site. Still, my complaints about the community actually fell on ears that were listening and I have seen a 200% improvement in how newbies are treated and getting questions addressed.
My next problem was with how the design/template of WP works. To me, it wasn't all that intuitive. I finally managed to get the site to look more of how I wanted it to but it took me a few weeks of playing around with the CSS and index file to be satisfied to show it to the public. I must admit that my site does look a bit better on FireFox and Mozilla (which are resource hogs bigger than IE in my opinion) but it looks good enough on IE for me to call it a day on the design side. Also, once again with the plug-in features of WP, I was easily able to make a few extra skins for the site so people can have choices on how they want to view it and the colors used.
Now that I am for the most part *done* (I still have some tweaking that I need to do here and there), I have to say that I am pretty happy with WordPress. It is much faster than Movabletype, easier to tweak, and offers a lot more features right out of the box than MT3 does. People are really excited about this software at the moment and its on the *hot* list so a lot of people are putting time into developing it. This can only mean great things for the end-user.

I would just like to add that my experiences with the Wordpress community are very very good. The (plugin and WP) developers are friendly, helpful and patient. I've also never seen any negativity on the IRC channel.
You may have just happened to run into some asshat. Anyway...welcome aboard on the WP ship !
Yeah, well when it got out that I said people were being dicks on my website and in the IRC then Matt came round for a visit and several people apologized for the asses. Since then it has been very good. =)
Thanks alot for this. MT:s latest move has shocked me. It turned my gut inside out. These suggestions are great and I hope hat more will follow Wordsmith. MT turned out to be bastards.

For another MT substitute, check out Drupal. I used it for my new site.
