We don&#039;t have iTunes in Canada because the branch plants of Apple and the majors can work out an agreement on publishing &#039;cause they might actually sell some music, and they don&#039;t really know how to do that.

The only paid service in Canada is pure crap. It is DRM&#039;d up the wazoo and doesn&#039;t work.

I expect, having tried to use a Sony MD Walkman for recordings, that they are banking on this whole thing not working, but they can at least say, &quot;hey, we tried&quot;.

Considering that the majors in Canada spend most of their time in battles with the retailers (currently HMV is charging full list $28 a CD on EMI titles, or not stocking them), it is no wonder that the music business is screwed. They don&#039;t want to sell music.
