Garfield movie: CGI cat + real dog = dumb

Just a quick note following the viewing of the latest commercial for what looks to be a hideously bad movie....

If there was only ONE thing I was allowed to point out that looked like an idiotic idea on some studio exec's part it's this:

Odie is not CGI.

Odie and Garfield are Yin and Yang in the comic strip. Two sides of the same coin. They should be portrayed on the screen equivalent to each other. It is completely jarring to see the CGI Garfield in a scene with the dog. I say "the dog" because that is not Odie.

Odie is a very unique looking dog in cartoon land and I'm quite sure he is not a Jack Russell Terrier. Either CGI Garfield + CGI Odie or "Morris the cat" + "actor dog". Mix and match doesn't work here.

Just plain stupid.

Wow, I was thinking the same thing last night when I saw a commercial for it. Terrible idea. The idea as a whole seems to not work either. I just don't see Garfield in anyway possible to be a live action movie.

I'll give a nod that this movie is going to suck. But then it could gather a surprise audience like the Scooby movies.

OK, so it seems stupid.
But the lineup is good with Bill Murray as the tubby tabby. This will not be Finding Nemo, but it could be Cats and Dogs. Is that so bad?

I will reserve final judgement until I see it, but all signs point to schlock.

It would not the first time a funny actor has been in an unfunny comedy.

When are we going to learn that Studio execs arent artist, they are not writers, so why cant they keep there crappy movie ideas off the big screen.

Vic (#4), consider Bowfinger. *Several* funny actors in an unfunny movie!

Phillip,

I have found that it is almost a mathematical certainty that the number of well-known actors in a comedy is inversely proportional to how funny it is.
