Rick Woodward and Rick Seale call their music an acoustic gumbo, and rightly so, they are the Hoodoo Papas. This guitar duo from the heart of central Louisiana strut their stuff with a heapin' helpin' of down home music straight from their hearts telegraphed to their six-strings on their new release Past Due. They not only pluck and strum out some licks, they can sing up a storm as well. Their infectious blend of rock-country-blues-folk sounds so full and distinctive you will wonder if you are listening to a four-piece band rather than two papas strumming their guitars and belting out bluesy country fried numbers filled with their with Louisiana soul.

By the third listen, I wasn't even a tad tired of hearing this album, it's like a five o'clock shadow that never goes away! I loved every second of this and I say that without an inkling of reservation. These two men are very talented, and they show how much on each of the 10 tracks offered on this CD. The summer's here and the time is right for dancin' in the streets, uh-huh, and the Hoodoo Papas are going to show you the way. You deserve the best so make sure you pick up this CD for yourself and wear it out until the weather gets cold, and then play it some more to warm your soul. Okay, can I gush anymore? This music had me comin' back for seconds in a heartbeat. I will bet that it works that way for you too, if you love da blues and all the music that this great style spawned as I do.

The Hoodoo Papas were officially anointed and blessed by luminaries such as B.B. King for their work in the past and I see no reason why it will not continue with Past Due. I know good music when I hear it so here is my quote for this band-"A great album that took control and rocked my soul," and you can take that one to the bank.
