Laurie Berkner

Laurie Berkner has been called everything from Ani DiFranco for kids to Raffi with a nosering. That's ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, you're kids will love her and you'll be able to tolerate her...which is more than you can say for Barnie.

I thought the video songbook was a bit old fashioned. And not in the good way, the Beatrix Potter or AA Milne way. It's old fashioned in the way that only something made on Video Toaster can be. It looked like a low budget video from the late 80's. The songs were good, but the graphics and such looked horrible.

The Victor and Freddie book was good. It's the story of two polar bears that go around the country eating things like collard greens and putting tobasco sauce on things. Very cute song, but I don't know where the polar bears came from. That wasn't mentioned in the song.

But Laurie is very cute and the songs will get stuck in your head. Check her out on the Noggin channel for a sample.

Some of her songs are addicting in a Dr. Seuss kind of way. It's ironic that as I read your post, she's on the tv singing 'song in my tummy'.

I agree that she's something that kids like and won't drive parents up the wall like Barney.

You should list her website in your post to be fair. www.twotomatoes.com

I love Laurie! While agree about her video being pretty low budget, the Noggin segments are just awesome! I'm a nanny for an 18 month-old who stops everything for Victor Vito and Freddie Vasco...I can't wait for Noggin to give her a show of her own!!
