Mob Rules...well not really

Mob Rules
(SPV)
This bunch of Germans, named after a Black Sabbath album and track, produce fairly standard metal. This is by far the weakest release in the latest batch of SPV metal releases. It's perfectly competent by the numbers metal but much of it never rises above the norm. It is very similar to much of the other sub-Maiden metal that is coming out of Europe, and no doubt they have managed a loyal following after their tours with Savatage, Helloween, Rage, et al. Ex-Weenie and current Masterplan guitarist shows up for a spell on here. It is rather too bad he was unable to infuse the band with the brilliance shown on Masterplan's debut album. This is, in fact, the problem...there have been so many excellent releases in this genre that the standard has been set rather high. Mob Rules is not a bad album, even could be said to be decent, just nothing special.
