Sealab 2021

Adult Swim is all-around superb. But the best thing in their arsenal of comedy is Sealab 2021.

Though I am easily amused, it is not easy to make me actually laugh. But Sealab 2021 ALWAYS has me rolling on the floor, laughing my freakin' ass off.

Imagine the original Star Trek, but set underwater, with a psychotic captain, inter-racial sexual innuendo, and a guy named "Stormy." Couple that with ultra-violence and politically-incorrect themes, and you've pretty much summed up the show.

It used to be that cartoons were only for kids. Beavis and Butt-Head changed all that. Now we have The Simpsons, King of the Hill, The Family Guy and Futurama (or at least we used to have the latter two...), and countless animated movies that appeal to adults just as much as they do to kids.

Adult Swim is on the cutting-edge here. And their sharpest knife is Sealab 2021.

Adult Swim also has Family Guy and Futurama reruns. There's word that Family Guy will be brought back, and it's highly likely that they will show syndicated new episodes on Adult Swim.

Anyway, Sealab 2021 is hilarious. It's definitely one of the wackiest (make no sense type of comedy) I've ever seen. Almost all the "original" Adult Swim cartoons are like that (eg: Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast). It's not just funny-haha, it's funny-what-the-freak?-haha.
