A hell of a good album

Edguy
(Nuclear Blast)
Purveyors of melodic power metal similar to Iron Maiden and later-day Iced Earth (esp. Glorious Burden), this lot have produced a collection of clever metal. Mixing equal parts Rainbow, Queensryche, Iron Maiden and even a bit of Whitesnake, this lot prove you can play driving powerful metal while retaining melody and subtlety. While Tobia Sammet does occasionally venture into a Dickinson-clone, he still retains enough distintiveness to have to an individual sound. There is a dash of humour on here as well, with a song entitled 'Lavatory Love Machine'. Wonder if George Michael will end up covering it someday. He knows about such things. This is certainly one of the best releases of this type since Masterplan's debut. There is a version of this release with 2 bonus tracks, but of which fit nicely with the rest of the CD. It is certainly Edguy's best released to date and an essential purchase for anyone. Oh yes and this one gets better with each spin.
