Kill Bill vol. 2 ... sequels/second parts are never better!

From the reviews and comments I've read so far, I think I'm the only person in the world who preferred Kill Bill 1 over the second installment. Don't get me wrong, both are amazing films. Indeed, Vol 2 is closer to Tarantino's earlier work, reinserting far more of the witty pop-reference-filled dialogue that is the cornerstone of his previous films. I think what made Vol 1 standout for me was the Japanese, Hong Kong and kung-fu film references which were the fabric of the film.

Vol 2 makes similar work out of Chinese martial-arts films and spagetti westerns, but these genres appeal to me less, thus Vol 2 being slightly less amazing for my eyes and ears! Indeed, for the first half an hour or so, I suspected Vol 2 might be a big mistake: the effort which went into setting up Michael Madsen's Budd character as a washed-up guilt-ridden ex-asassin was a tad drawn out.

Of course, as soon as The Bride (Uma Thurman) arrives to take out Budd, we discover his will to live isn't completely gone and, well, he gives as good as he gets! After audiences discover what a Texan-style funneral is (!), Elle Driver (Darryl Hannah) is next in line and the showdown between these two is exquisite, peaking with truly Tarantinoesque gore and surprise! And, finally, the showdown between The Bride and Bill mixes some pretty cool pondering dialogue, a couple of hilarious comic book references, a real tear-jerker moment and, of course, guns/swords/death!

Every actor in this film is perfectly chosen and positioned, with a broad supporting cast keeping the blood pumping through the film's veins. The cinematography and editting are, unsurprisingly, amazing and a real treat to the eye. The film lingered a little in a few places, clocking in at 137 minutes. I can see why the studio's thought two volumes was a good idea and I'm curious to see how Tarantino's directors cut turns out in which the two volumes are re-assembled into one! And, yes, you do discover the Bride's real name during this film it's ...

The thing with the name was just odd. The whole first movie, they bleeped it. Then in this movie, you hear "Arlene" and think, "Aha!" but then, after that, they still beep the name (which clearly doesn't start with a vowel), and you realize that "Arlene" was a fake name she was using.

When they finally reveal her real name, complete with a cute but strange classroom flashback, it's distinctly anti-climactic. And what the heck, her real name is [beep].

Thanks for your ignorant blog.

Obviously you know NOTHING about what Kill Bill is. It was ONE movie split up into two. In fact, there are rumors that the entire Kill Bill epic will be shown all at once in indep movie theaters later in the year.

For you to call Vol. 1 "Kill Bill 1" shows how much you know.

Volume 1 was meant to be this Kung-Fu story, and in Volume 2, the story shifts from east to west, and so does the storytelling (from Kung-Fu movie to Speghetti western).

It's brilliant. I am surprised many people don't see that.

Just remember, it was never meant to be two movies. Simply one brilliant film, which it is.

Tis' my humble opinion Kill Bill Crapola Volume Shit 1 was so God-awfully bad, that it revealed just how poor of a director Quentin Geek Tarantino truly is......It's not just bad, but stunningly bad. It is so bad, that only children raised on comic books and TV could ever really enjoy it, and even then if their taste bordered between idiotic and moronic and A-Team Fan Club President - and proud of it!.....

Kill Bill Crapola Volume Shit 1 was sofaking BAD, that I have not the least bit of interest in seeing Kill Bill Crapola Volume Shit 2 - did I get the titles right?

Do all of you Kill Bill Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and entire epic haters realize that Kill Bill is a ***COMEDY***?

You are supposed to be laughing your a$$ off when you see the absurd violence (Arms getting chopped off and blood spewing from the body like a fountain...are you kidding me? That's comic genius)

In fact, you are supposed to laugh throughout all of Volume 1 AND Volume 2. There are only a few "Serious" parts. Even the end of Kill Bill (or, as some of you would say, the end of Kill Bill Vol. 2) is funny.

Everyone's problem here is that they are taking this story seriously. It's is SO freaking OVER THE TOP that you are supposedly to simply laugh at this fantasy world.

If you don't get it, you don't get "Kill Bill."

"it's distinctly anti-climactic"

That's how I feel about all the death scenes in Volume 2. Which is probably my only reason for preferring Volume 1 to 2. The deaths in Volume 1 were so absurd, but oh so grandiose, that it just made the film. Volume 2 lacked that.

Kill Bill, the moment I saw it, instantly became the worst movie I have ever seen. I would never have believed that something this horrible could even be made by someone not mentally retarded. Nothing can save this film from the horrendous monstrosity that it is. But, in the world of film, the golden rule is Make Crap And They Will Love It.
