Switchfoot/Copeland @ The Electric Factory

Switchfoot stopped in Philadelphia at the Electric Factory near the end of their tour with The Jealous Sound and Copeland [The Militia Group]. Due to unforeseen circumstances The Jealous sound had to cancel so that left just Switchfoot and Copeland.

Copeland took the stage first and played pretty much everything off of their Beneath Medicine Tree release and one new song. Although the backup vocals were not loud enough, it did not ruin the set. Aaron's soft vocals sounded exactly like they did on the album, along with the rest of band. Since they were the only opener, they played a full 45 minute set. While Copeland fans smiled and sang along, a few others who came to see the headliners became restless and felt the need to put in their two cents.

Next Switchfoot played and it was evident they were what the crowd came to see. Within seconds they had everyone clapping and jumping up and down. They had the perfect mix of slow ballad-like songs and rockin' ones too. They played mostly songs off their current album, but threw in a few old ones for those fans that have been with them since the Legend of Chin days. Since they have been together for over ten years, performing seems to be second nature.

On a side note, I have never seen so many Abercrombie & Fitch shirts at one show.

I don't see many bands live (though I did spend Saturday night listening to Buddy Guy live, and that was incredible), but I think Switchfoot would be on my list to catch next time around. I've been listening since Chin, and I think they've been getting better with (almost) each album.
