Alias - it's a mystery
Published April 25, 2004
I don't know if I should be disturbed or relieved — the writers on "Alias" have no idea what is going on either. This New York Times article (spoilers for tonight's ep) looks at the writing process on "Alias", and how they try not paint the serial into a corner.
The cards, however, get the writers only so far. "I look at them now," said J. R. Orci, who has been with the show since it began, "and none of them are relevant. We use that as a road map but at some point we end up ditching it." In the writers' room, as in the fictional Los Angeles C.I.A. office in which much of the show takes place, "Alias" is a giant puzzle. "You put in all these random pieces," said Monica Breen, who began writing for the show this year, "and then you have to fill it in."

Now think about what would happen if Abrams, Joss Whedon and Aaron Sorkin ever got together, got some tights and make some television.
Actually, they'd probably spend all the time working on the tights and totally blow all the deadlines.
And you know what? Even after spoilers from the NYTimes, you still watch the hour and go, WTF?
Hot chicks, torture and so many double crosses I can't keep track.

Of course the writing staff has no idea what's going on -- it's all in J.J. Abrams' head.
