I saw Big Daddy recently when it was on terrestrial UK tv, and i have seen Mr Deeds, and both did manage to make me LOL. Big Daddy more so though. Sentimentality AND comedy in a near-perfect mix, as opposed to Deeds' comedy-heavy skew. Anyway, i think a good deal of people simply criticize him because he's managed to become a famous comedian. I dunno where this preconception came from that you have to be "undiscovered" for 20-30-odd years, but it's bollocks to be honest. Sandler is, so far, pretty damn funny. Funnier than many, in fact. Maybe not yet on a par with classics, but give him a chance for fucks' sake. I mean, not even all of the Pythons' stuff was genuinely hilarious.
