Lil' Kim denies perjury

Lil' Kim, real name Kimberly Jones, has pleaded not guilty to a string of charges relating to evidence she gave to a grand jury investigation into a New York shooting back in 2001. Jones was yesterday charged on one count of conspiracy, three counts of perjury, three counts of making false statements and one count of obstruction following allegations that she, and three of her associates, lied during police investigations into a shootout involving members of her entourage outside a Manhattan radio station.
Bailed for $500,000 Lil Kim told reporters she had been advised not to comment on the charges, however speaking for the rapper Gerald McKelvey said she and her manager and co-defendant Damion Butler had: "pleaded not guilty and expect to be vindicated in court."
The grand jury investigation in question was that investigating a shooting that took place outside the Hot 97 radio station in Feb 2001. The shootout followed an appearance by Jones and rap group Junior MAFIA on the station, and various members of Jones' entourage, including Butler, were said to be involved. Under oath Jones distanced herself from the incident, and said Butler was not involved. Police reckon some or all of what she said at that time was false. If found guilty of 'obstruction' Lil Kim could face up to ten years in jail.
