C-Murder does not get bail
Published April 14, 2004
The judge who granted C-Murder (real name Corey Miller) the opportunity to a re-trial over allegations he shot dead of fan back in 2002 has turned down the rapper's application for bail. Miller's legal people argued that if the courts accepted their arguments that the prosecution's witnesses in their client's first trial were dubious (the grounds for a retrial) then he should be granted bail pending the new hearing.
However State District Judge Martha Sassone disagreed, pointing out the rapper faces other weapon and attempted-murder charges relating to an incident in 2001, and battery charges over an alleged attack on a prison guard. Miller's people had hoped to dismiss the weapon/attempted-murder charges because prosecutors had failed to pursue them in the two years since the incident.
