PAUL ATKINSON, lead guitarist with the ZOMBIES on their million-selling singles 'She's Not There' and 'Time Of The Season', died in Santa Monica, California on April 1st at the age of 58. He died peacefully in his sleep Thursday at the UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center after a long battle with liver and kidney disease. Atkinson later became a record executive for CBS, signing new talent including JUDAS PRIEST, ABBA, BRUCE HORNSBY, MISTER MISTER, MICHAEL PENN and PATTY SMYTH. In 1991 he made a guest appearance on a new Zombies album, New World, and all five members reformed at the Jazz Cafˇ in London for the launch of a four-CD box-set, Zombie Heaven, in 1997. Earlier this year, a benefit concert was organized for Atkinson, who was suffering with cancer, and he joined the Zombies on stage.
