<description>The Hugos really aren&#039;t about sci-fi (pronounced &quot;skiffy&quot;) but about speculative fiction, which is a much larger genre, encompassing hard sf, fantasy, alternate history, comix, basically whatever you want to point to which uses &quot;what if?&quot; as a premise.

As an example, William Gibson&#039;s &quot;Pattern Recognition&quot; - SF or not?

As for &quot;Firefly&quot; you really should rent or buy the DVD set, it is really good space opera (which was derived from the slang for westerns - horse opera) with horses, cows, hoowers, and spaceships.</description>
