The Masters

No, this is NOT about slavery...
Phil Mickelson won it all on a difficult putt for-the-ages.
This was the first time I've ever watched The Masters. I guess I have good timing. Some say it was the best one ever.
I've played golf before. I usually wind up shanking my tee shot into the woods, or knocking the ball a total of about ten yards. I'm decent on chip-shots, and respectable with putting. But anything that involves more skill than required at "Chuck's 18 Holes O' Mini-Golf Fun" tends to lead me towards utter humiliation.
Anyway, The Masters was incredible to watch. These guys are truly skilled at what they do like no other professional sportsmen. The ability to consistently crank a ball three football fields totally in a straight line is something I could never do. Sure, Shaq is a great basketball player. But he can't make a free throw to save his life. He's one-dimensional. Professional golfers cannot be. They must master their game on every level.
So, I had an added respect for golfers now. Mr. Mickelson, my hat is off to you.

I love playing golf but find myself wanting to stick red hot pokers up the proverbial asses of TV golf announcers.....they are so full of shit as to create murderous anger within me....
And what's up with this "You da' man!" comment? Will someone please slam a baseball bat into the Nordic face of the first John Tesh-looking idiot who screams that term - and smash hard.....

RJ Elliott is a graduate student studying Criminal Justice at the University Of Central Florida. His likes include nature, sports, and pierced blondes. He dislikes daytime television, left-wing dictators, and lead-tainted Chinese imports. He is ambivalent about Angelina Jolie.

I am happy for Mickelson too. However, I think it severe hyperbole that they are any more skilled than other sports stars. Their ability is to be admired ofcourse. But they have miles of fairway to hit the ball into.
I have more respect for the skill of Roddick to hit a serve into a tiny box WITHIN the confines of a tennis court at 152mph. WOW. Come on now..that takes some beating. Tennis players over golf players, anyday of the week. In my book.
