Foamhenge

America's answer to Stonehenge.

In typical American fashion, ours took three men two days to erect, as compared to many thousands of Druids working for 1,500 years.

It opened to the public yesterday in Natural Bridge, Virginia.

Be the first on your block to visit this unique attraction. While you're there, enjoy the spectacular Natural Bridge, a wondrous creation of nature.

FunFact: in the Revolutionary War, bullets were made by dropping molten lead from the Natural Bridge into the river below.

By the time the bullets hit the water, they were perfectly round, and the cold water instantly locked their shape in place.

I know this because I took the tour when I was there. But I digress.

From the Foamhenge website:

A new member joins the American Stonehenge family when sculptor Mark Cline unveils his full size scale replica, made entirely of foam, on March 31st in Natural Bridge of Virginia.

"Foamhenge at Natural Bridge" is painted to resemble the real Stonehenge. Foamhenge will be open free to the public starting April 2, 2004.

In past public spectacles in Virginia, Cline, owner of Enchanted Castle Studios in Natural Bridge, unveiled "A Space Oddity," a 2001 flying saucer invasion on the hills outside of Lexington, and Glasgow became "The Town That Time Forgot" in 2003 when he placed 15 full-size fiberglass dinosaur sculptures throughout the town.

Foamhenge is located on the west side of Rt. 11 near the Natural Bridge Zoo, 1 mile north of Natural Bridge.

Joe, check this out: Stonehenge in Texas built to scale. Also includes scale models of Easter Island heads.

Awesome! I go there once a year and hold a secret pagan ceremony involving Shiner beer and nekkid women!

~Wish you were here~

I like the Cadillac Ranch better.
