Lastest scrap over Hendrix recordings

More arguments between London independent Purple Haze Records and the estate of Jimi Hendrix. As previously reported Purple Haze reckon they own a chunk of Hendrix's recordings after they acquired record company Yameta which had, in turn, done a deal with Hendrix himself in 1966. Purple Haze accuse Experience Hendrix LLC, the company that represents Jimi's estate, of
hindering them in their attempts to release some of the material in that
catalogue and the last we heard they had begun legal action against them.

In the latest dispute Purple Haze bosses have ordered the Hendrix Estate to
remove the 'Axis Bold As Love' album it released from sale, because the
independent plans to release its own version of the recording.

According to Aussie music website Undercover a fax sent by Purple Haze to
Experience Hendrix LLC reads: "Our next release is going to be the original
Yameta & Chas Chandler production of Axis Bold As Love. Please remove all of the above from the shelves of all retailers as you have no rights to this material."

Experience Hendrix are yet to respond.
