Mash it Up, Mash it Up

The Grey Album episode may turn out to be a watershed moment in popular culture. We shall see. Since we participated in the Grey Tuesday protest (although we didn't host the album), we are on the organization's mailing list. I just got this:
- Dear Grey Tuesday Folks,
Grey Tuesday has truly been changing people's minds about what is possible when people take music into their own hands, and we want to take the next step. Well over a hundred articles have been written about the protest in major publiciations (not to mention lots of radio and TV coverage).
....This impact is truly amazing. And we've been considering how we can further defend music against corporate censorship attempts and how we can create more discussion of the need for sampling rights. A first step that we'd like to pursue is a new website called Bannedmusic.org. We'd like to share the idea with all of you (please don't write anything about this publicly until we make a formal announcement)....
In the meantime, here's another mashy mashy, The Kleptones' Yoshimi Battles The Hip-Hop Robots, which is exactly what the name implies. Mash on.

Pretty well every week for the past year, John Sakamoto has featured mashups in his weekly column Anti-Hit List (this week includes a Sex Pistols-Cher track).
In addition he has produced a compilation of unknown bands called "The Anti-Hit List".
