LiveAID to be released as DVD
Published March 08, 2004
CMU reports the on Live Aid DVD plans.
Following the news last week that anti-piracy officials had cracked a bootlegging outfit which was illegally copying and selling DVD recordings of Live Aid, the trustees of the UK based Band Aid trust have announced they will make a recording of the legendary concert available for the first time.
They are now looking for a music or DVD company who will be able to deliver
the charity the most money in return for the rights to release the DVD. Whoever wins the rights will have to then gain permission from each individual artist who took part in the event in order to include their segments - although Bob Geldof is expected to write to them all urging them to give the green light.
According to Music Week, the decision to allow a DVD release was made at a
meeting of the Band Aid trustees last month. Although the organisation's past major label affiliations were with then Universal label Phonogram, it was made clear the rights will this time go to the highest bidder. Bids are now being handled by London based legal firm Bray & Krais.

Fabulous news. Far too many bootleggers have been profiting from selling Live Aid'85 Dvds and videos.
