McCarthy is not gone--nor is Poindexter. Total Information Awareness, Poindexter's creation, is apparently still lurking in the shadows of our government--perhaps in the minds of the Carcieris out there (see his introductory description of the Information Awareness Office (IAO), a part of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), and The John Poindexter Awareness Office , and Rotten.com's page on the IAO, and an illuminati conspiracy entry from ConspiracyArchive.com, and the Wickipedia entry on the IAO). U.S. Pressing for High-Tech Spy Tools, and TIA: Life Beyond the Grave and Data-mining schemes point out that even though TIA has been disbanded by congress, its technology and projects were just transferred to other offices within the government. For example, ARDA, which I just blogged about, is carrying on TIA's initiatives. The people get pissed about an evil governmental program, and the US fake-destroys the program, shifting it secretively to other offices within the government. That is how the "greatest democracy in the world" functions. I need a shower. Maybe I can secretively relocate the filth to another part of my body.

To find out more about homeland security issues, check out the journalism blog, Behind the Homefront. The blog's focus is on information disclosure problems related to homeland security practices.
