VOIVOD's classic debut album, "War and Pain", will be re-released in the official 20th Anniversary "ultimate deluxe" edition on April 5 through Metal Blade Records.
Originally released in 1984, the album will be reissued in a three-CD-release in a stunning package with "shitloads of bonus stuff, all lyrics and lots of cool photos included as well!" according to a press release
The full tracklist can be found here. The best part of the reissue is the second disc, which is the Morgoth Invasion live demo from 1984. It's close to 80 minutes long, and it sounds pretty good, so it's nice that it's finally being officially released. It is unfortunate, however, that only three tracks from the Anachronism live demo are being included, as the full length demo contains of lot of covers of songs from bands like Motorhead, Venom, and Judas Priest. Still, this reissue is a great deal for any Voivod fan.

besides Dimension, that was the best Voivod album... can't wait.
It is really cool to see Voivod get this royal treatment. The only thing is that after listening to an album like this (or Killing Technology) for 20 years, will the remaster totally blow this away or sound strange? Part of the charm of these albums is the fact that they were so raw and primal. I don't want a pro tools version of KT or DH, and I wonder what that "recorded in a cave" drum sound would be like cleaned up? Don't get me wrong, I am all for remasters, just are they always "better"

That is very cool. It would be nice to see some of the other, earlier albums get at least the remaster treatment, too. Dimension Hatross ruled, but needs some TLC to bring it up to today's standards.
