Film Review: Freaky Friday

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this movie. I just saw it on DVD, not quite wanting to see it enough to go out and see it in theaters, but the book was good enough. It was very chick-flicky, very sappily romantic, but a very lighthearted, amusing movie. Perfect to kick off my long weekend! Lindsay Lohan was actually quite good, as was Jamie Lee Curtis. The secondary actors weren't wonderful, but as I said earlier, it's not the type of movie you go into with the intention of getting a very serious epic out of. The keyword was entertaining, and that it was.

You want a comment? I've got a comment:

This is pathetic, wanna know why? Only a few years ago (less than 10 for sure) there was a REMAKE of Freaky Friday for the Disney Channel. It starred Shelly Long and I cannot believe I've seen that trash. In fact it aired in 1995, so it's about 9 years old.

Freaky Friday is nothing special. It wasn't special in 1976, and it wasn't great in 1995, and ANOTHER remake in 2003 is completely unwarranted. Even if it was a good film (like an unwarranted remake of Clerks), I'd still be a hater on this.

It reminds me of the song "Landslide." Smashing Pumpkins did a cover which I like better than the Fleetwood Mac original. I believe this was done in '98 or 99. Then in 2003 the Dixie Chicks, who I can't stand, come out with their own cover. HELLO. Landslide was covered recently by the Smashing Pumpkins. What the hell is the Dixie Chicks doing by putting out another cover not too long after the SP cover?

Pathetic and unwarranted. If you want to see "Freaky Friday", watch the '76 version, and if you want to listen to "Landslide", go with SP or Fleetwood Mac. Stay away from these outrageous unnecessary remakes/covers.

Jamie Lee Curtis has aged well, unlike some other actresses. I sure hope though that she stays away from Halloween The Final, Absolute, Michael Myers Will Not Return Sequel. Or whatever it is called.

I appreciate your thoughts Pappy, but your comment poses this question: What were you doing watching the Disney channel?!
