I watched this movie on DVD last night. It's "Run, Lola, Run" in Paris, France, only much better. It starts off with a violent, mysterious scene in the Paris streets, and then tells a story full of twisty, unexpected events, as it becomes clear that an unexpected, out-of-the-blue happening can change your life forever, and therefore that life itself is a series of accidents and reactions to same.

The movie jumps back and forth in time, not jarringly but logically, and builds to a wonderful, satisfying, perfect conclusion. How do people write movies this good, anyhow? In French, with optional English subtitles.

I've grown immensely fond lately of films shot in great cities of the world like Paris, movies that take you into the homes and apartments of people who live there, that give you a sense of what it might be like, say, to live in Paris, and feel and be French.
