I caught that tour; I thought that Metheny grossly underutilized Bona's polygot talents. Their take on Bright Sized Life was easily the highlight of the evening. Personally, I'm rather looking forwards to seeing Bona play with Mike Stern. When I have seen Stern before, he gives his supporting musicians a pretty long leash.

a good (if underrated) bass player

beyond good....he was playing the multi-instrumentalist role in the Pat Metheny Group during the Speaking Of Now tour.

at one point in the show he came down to the front of the stage, strapped on an electric bass and with only Metheny and drummer Antonio Sanchez played a fricken' stunning version of "Bright Size Life".

if you closed your eyes you woulda sworn it was Jaco.
